Thurlby Church Case Study

Thurlby Church

St Firmins Church, based in Thurlby, South Lincolnshire dates back as far back as 925 AD. The beautiful church is treasured by the community to whom it belongs, people from all walks of life that all have different needs, aspirations and beliefs. The church were looking to upgrade the current historic lighting system in place with bespoke high quality LED Products.

The Requirement:

The client had on-going issues with the current light levels on site, their service and hymn books were very difficult to read for those with visual impairments especially.

A reduction in maintenance costs was required as the current system was costly as the lighting system in place uses dated Halogen technology with short lamp life, access to replace the high level lights require a re-location of the pews before scaffolding could be erected to change any blown lamps on site.

The Solution:

After a site evaluation, the project specification team advised replacing the current lighting system with a bespoke LED lighting system. The system was designed by our in-house luminaire design team to meet all of the specifications set out by the client which included.

  • Bespoke dimmable units compatability tested to specified dimming control system.
  • Bespoke colour temperature and colour rendition index numbers.

The units offered an increase in performance from the previous lighting system. These were predicted pre-installation to ensure increase in light levels (at full power) would be achieved using out in-house lighting design team. The customer now has a long term maintenance free solution that solved all of the issues outlined.
